#AVID MEDIA COMPOSER INTERFACE MANUAL#
Just another way Media Composer is taking the manual work out of managing your content. There’s even an interface setting to show or hide the Bin Status Bar per bin. You can either perform a multi-select in the bin, or simply view information about the entire bin. The new Bin Status Bar-located at the bottom of a Bin-provides you with information regarding the total number of items in a bin. (That’s a lot of acronyms, but suffice to say, if you’re in the business of delivering this industry standard to popular studios and OTT services, then you’ll definitely want to check this out.) Bin Status Barīefore you can deliver amazing content, you’ve got to know what you’re working with. You can even burn multiple CPLs under one IMP. You can link to or create IMF originals and then generate a supplemental package either inside or outside of the original without the need to re-encode existing media. Although Media Composer was already able to export an IMF package, 2021.3 introduces the ability to create IMF supplementals through the new IMF window. The definition of “New and Improved,” Media Composer’s IMF Packaging workflow takes all the support we added in 2019, throws it out the window, and replaces it with a more robust, extensible, and powerful toolset.
Let’s see how we’ve shaken things up a bit with Avid Media Composer 2021.3:
#AVID MEDIA COMPOSER INTERFACE UPDATE#
Luckily, Media Composer is constantly finding new ways to update and improve itself, and the March software release is no different. We need a break, a change from this “new normal” to liven things up. For many of us, it’s been more than a year of working from our home offices / living rooms / basements / palapas. If the option has the same name, it's almost certainly the same outcome, regardless of the location in the interface.Let’s face it: It’s time for something new. If it seems that I'm using a workflow you're not familiar with to achieve something you are familiar with, it's probably just that I'm using a repeated option. In fact, you'll notice that all of these options are repeated. Or, I can click the fast menu and, there again, we've got the new sequence option. I can right click and I have options like new sequence. Just also, as a brief reminder, remember that options are often repeated in the right click contextual menus, the application menus, and the fast menus.
You can play with this quite freely because if, at any time, you realize that you've just messed up the interface and it's not looking like it's useful anymore, you can click to reselect the workspace and it'll be restored to the last saved version. So here, for example, I can introduce this as a new window and keep the audio mixer embedded in the interface. These mean that you can dock the window, as you would any other window in the interface. But if I just bring up the audio mixer again, keep your eyes open for these name badge tabs on the left edge of these windows. Most of the time, I'll be leaving these tools floating on screen so they're front and center.
We'll be using timecode in pretty advanced ways in this course. And we'll be looking at our now familiar timecode window and using it to help us navigate our sequences. We'll also be looking at the audio EQ tool to change audio level at different frequencies. We'll be looking at the audio mixer for adjusting audio levels. Under the Tools menu, we'll be looking at the audio tool for checking levels.

And there will be some additional windows for us to work with too. That's the bin container window, the composer window, and the timeline window. For most of this course, we'll be focusing on the usual three main areas of the Media Composer interface.
